Cafe De Tacuba, nestled in the heart of Mexico City, stands out not just for its extensive menu but for its enchanting ambiance and rich cultural experiences. Guests rave about the stunning interior, reminiscent of traditional Mexican artistry, which sets the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal.
While opinions on the food quality vary—some diners, like Ben Park, find it merely satisfactory—others, like Juan Pablo, enthusiastically endorse the Carne de Res con Mole Poblano, praising its perfection alongside the delightful molletes. The standout feature, however, is the lively musical entertainment. Emily Giang and Maggie Guo enthuse over the heartfelt performances of boleros and Mariachi, creating a captivating atmosphere that lingers long after the meal.
Service consistently receives high marks, with staff described as friendly and efficient while embodying the essence of traditional Mexican hospitality. This warm environment transforms casual dining into an uplifting cultural celebration. As Laura Wong notes, the memorable experience is so profound that it speaks to the restaurant’s historical significance, with even Diego Rivera having celebrated here. In essence, Cafe De Tacuba is where delicious flavors meet heartfelt traditions, making it a must-visit in CDMX.

The food was just ok. Maybe on the low end of what we ate in Mexico City. However, the location, the ambiance, and the service were great. The other factors were enough for me to give this place five stars. The interior is stunning.

LOVED THIS PLACE mostly for the musical entertainment they had, specifically boleros (I think it's the romantic kind of music that's NOT mariachi). It was lowkey a little bit on the fancier end which took me off guard, but I loved it nonetheless. The woman that was serving us was so friendly and she gave me like mamacita vibes, like she knew what she was doing and was a queen while doing it. I ordered tacos de res and some horchata, which were so good!!!! A little too filling but it's okay I didn't waste anything. Honestly the most amazing part was when the boleros came up to us and started singing. One of the people in our group requested a song that meant a lot to her so it was so sweet to see her tearing up from the music! Very nostalgic.

YOU MUST COME HERE. I wish i could buy an apartment upstairs of this place and come down for every meal. The menu is expansive, and everything we got was so good. I got the Carne de res con mole poblano, it was so perfect. My wife got the molletes. I would recommend them more for a starter, but they were so delicious. The interior is immaculate, and the waiting staff is dressed in a traditional looking garb. My only mistake was eating churros before the meal while waiting on the rest of my party. Paired with the cafe de olla, i was all sugared out half way through the mole. I recommend trying the cafe de olla and pan after the mole. Really, everything here looks so good. I wouldnt buy off the breakfast menu, its mainly eggs.

What a fantastic restaurant! We came here for our New Year’s Eve dinner and had an incredible experience. We made our reservations via email, and Jose was quick to respond and answer all my questions. There was a long line when we arrived, so I suggest booking ahead. The decor is stunning, filled with vibrant Mexican flair and a festive vibe. The staff were English-friendly and efficient, and we got our drinks and meals smoothly without much wait! The drinks were extremely delicious (we ordered the horchata, mango margarita, and mezcal cocktail), the food was flavourful, and the meat was perfectly tender. Later on in the meal, the Mariachi band came out and it was such a great experience in itself! The atmosphere of this restaurant is very homey and lively, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate New Year’s Eve in CDMX! Highly recommend!

What a lovely restaurant. Fantastic service wonderful atmosphere. The mariachi performance was the cherry on top. Excellent choices and menu - will have to come back and try other items! Came back twice - for dinner and breakfast. Best service in town. No wonder Diego Rivera had his wedding reception here!!!

The breakfast was delicious. I ordered the eggs, mole and refried beans dish. Their service was exceptional since I asked for cheese on my plate and they didn't mind to add an additional item to my plate. They also didn't charge me extra for the add-on. I ordered a diet coke for my breakfast and were nice to give me one. The place was beautiful inside. The price was good for such a place.

When I arrived in Mexico City from Cancun, this was the first restaurant I visited for lunchThere were musicians, and as soon as I sat down, they came over to meI really enjoyed the experience from the very beginningThe restaurant is historic, authentic, sophisticated, and beautifully aesthetic. I loved the vibe. After all the seafood in Cancun, I had chicken and quesadilla style food here, and it was delicious. The music and the sophisticated, historic vibe made the experience even better
